Diana Redman

Artist Diana Redman was born in New York where she attended Queens College MFA program.  Becoming a professional athlete at a young age, she found herself living a life of constant international travel and transience.  She now finds herself in Tel-Aviv, Israel, trying to communicate through the language of photography, the desire to find intimacy within a country that often amplifies feelings of displacement.

After immigrating to Israel, she quickly found her interactions were concentrated mostly between her camera and the architecture of the city.  With an intense interest in social issues, she began exploring not only her own immigrant experience, but the experiences of other immigrants, refugees, and those who were struggling to assimilate.  Through the mediums of poetry and photography, artist Diana Redman explores the problems that permanent tourists and immigrants around the world share.

Balancing her recent immigrant experience in Israel, current career as a professional athlete, and her past years in New York, finding a common ground between languages she knows and doesn’t know has lead her to become comfortable being uncomfortable.
